    Schickle RK with rare core version

    Hello,

    I have an Otto Schickle RK with the rare core version and an 800 marked ribbon ring.

    Does anybody have an O.S. RK with the same core version to compare?

          I can't pretend to know much about Schickle crosses, but I believe I have seen this same core (with the "1" in "1939" looking a little "wavy" at the top) on some "B" type S&L's. I have no idea what the implications are of this.

            Well Daniel, guess i have to thank Herrn Schickle for making such a beauty! Without him you would never have sold me those nice Schinkel crosses. And sorry no, do not have a Schickle RK with that core. Shame on me, hehe.

              I don't like this RK at all - in my opinion a fake

                Probably because you never saw a Schickle RK before then Frank, they are VERY rare, to me it looks like a true Schickle.

                      how about this, the owner of this RK sends the RK to Detlev Niemann for an expertise and if this core is original to D N I pay for the expertise and if its considered fake you pay for the expertise.

                        The frame is a Schickle frame - the core is not what I have seen so far. (Edit: wrong. I had this cross in my hands!) I also don't think that the core is a S&L core - way to blurry and the reverse date looks different. The milky-white frosting, however, can be seen on some of the Schickle RKs.

                            the numerals are different IMHO. Unfortunately, when I did the book I only had a picture of the other Schickle core so I could never really determine what that second core looks like. However, that core in question fits to the picture and I think that is the one. Since the cross is unmarked it seems to be an earlier one.

                            I had the cross in my hands during a collectors meeting in Germany some time ago, I can also testify that the core was never replaced. The frame is w/o any doubt a Schickle with the original frosting nicely applied and intact.
