    opiniuns on a knights cross

    wel i wanne know

if a bullet went trough the cross from the front off the cross ,,the iron must bend to the back

if the bullet went through from the back the metal bends to the front
this crosses iron damaged peaces ,,, do bend forward and backwards at a lot off places

second i see rust on some places that is ,,yes old .

but a lot iron without paint with no rust at all ?

if someone wood tell me this is from some general or soldier who was wounded or killed by what ever went through that cross ,,

i wood not take it seriously

why is the damage on the cross being taken seriously as war time ????????

    why ???

Whatever happened with the cross I don't know but this piece is original and has a lot of character.
    Very nice piece.

    Best regards

I may be wrong but heres an attempt at your question..

The sheer heat of the bullet could have caused a "splash or ripple" effect on the iron. All pieces of the iron center and silver frame are bent to the back. The one area at the top could be where the ripple effect took place.

As for the rust.. it appears to have a decent amount of rust on the exposed areas. The places that arent rusted may be from someone trying to preserve the iron?

I don't know the answer, but It would be very strange to ruin an expensive original RK.
And than ruin it on purpose an decreases it's value a lot!

In evaluating the RK, look at the beaded frame in the 3 o'clock position. The projectile nicked it about in the center of that arm, as the trajectory of the frag passed through the medal in a downward direction. Then the reverse of the 6 o'clock arm, the projectile again nicks the beaded frame again close to the 9 o'clock arm. This evidence not only shows that the path was from higher left to lower right, but also that it was more parallel as opposed to direct on. In my mind something I can see that happening from an assassin lair in a building as opposed to a G.I. tuning up his M1 for target practice. What ever the case, I can't prove either but you would have to shoot a drum full of these to get that exact results. Take a look at the evidence.

            bullet damaged kc

i purchased this cross in the 1990s two weeks before the first show of shows. i was in cleveland ,ohio at the IX centerfor the OGCA (ohio gun collectores show) two canadian dealers had the item along with an ss officers buckle. sold together and said they were to the same person. they just didnt know who it was. i actually returned the two pieces at the SOS two weeks later, and recieved a complete refund. at the time i had it, there was no ribbon or loop. i never had a problem with the cross, but the buckle ended up being a fake, so, i just said goodbye to the pair.

              MMMmmmm,
Are there any aknowledged RK collecters here that can confirm the RK is for sure (as sure as we can be) a wartime K&Q?
