    Spanish Crosses without Swords

    Hi Guys,

I have been informed that the most likely S/C issued to the KM was the example in Bronze without swords...

Here are a couple of examples for opinions...

Frankly, I trust Jacques' call more than my own on particular examples of this type cross, but I see nothing wrong with this one (except the excessive bend of the arm tips, which does not, IMO, affect the originality of this cross).

Details are much crisper on the second one posted so go for that one if you're trying to decide!

                    Spanish Cross

                    Hello,
I prefer the 2nd cross-much nicer. You are correct, the bronze version with out swords is the most common type awarded to the KM. That is why I own one and the one piece example like you have posted to boot.

                    Regards,
                    Jody

                      Hi Jody,

Thanks very kindly for your opinion once again...

It certainly is a beauty!! I wonder why the peaks of the Crosses are bent over in such a fashion? Surely they aren't manufactured like this???

I really want a S/C to add to my KM collection and I'm much closer now in Knowledge to be able to make a decision soon

Hopefully something good at the right price pops up??

                        Hi Justin,
The Cross arms are somewhat thin and they got bent from all sorts of things-being dropped, knocking it against a train door, etc.

I can tell you is that it is a common site on many of these Bronze Spanish Crosses without Swords.

                        Regards,
                        Jody

So who would this as in your cross be attriubuted to in maker?

The "overbending" of the points was, in my opinion, a desire by the wearer to have it fit as tight as possible to a jacket. Especially a thick wool KM jacket.
