EK2 mm 24 with strange mark

Just got this cross, this cross has exactly the right patina. Dark and brown.
The blitz takes away some of the "dirt"

It's marked with a 24 or the ring, and I can see at least 1 mark on the jump ring, it looks like V.

Can anyone explain to me the meaning of this mark or perhaps its just a scratch..
    I really like this cross.

That's gotta be the same mark Robert.

                  Really strange these jumpring marks

Hi, I have had one of these ek's before that had a tiny acorn inside that stamp mark, and I think I still have one that does also, but not as well defined. I think I have one that has that V mark also. IMO it must be some kind of bench inspection mark, just like what you can find with other types of militaria etc.

To me they both look like a V. Surely too deep to be a tooling mark so you have to think they were put there deliberately. Another great little anomaly to collecting the EKs!

                        Here's a very distinct acorn...

And I've always presumed this to be an acorn also, maybe just another mystery mark...

Hi Robert, yes, that is what I was talking about! The other one that you show that is not as well defined as the other mark looks like a part of an acorn IMO also.

I wonder if we will ever know the truth about these jump ring marks.
