    Unusual EK1

    HI

I was wondering if I could get some opinions on this odd ek1 I have just received

It is of one piece manufacture with the core area having a stippled finish. Quality of strike is very sharp. The reverse has what appears to be a ww1 style hinge block and the pin is a replacement from the look of things.
The pin is stamped L/18 but has a different silver finish and has been filed down and soldered to the hinge block. I think this pin could have originally been on a KM war badge perhaps?

The core area has been touched up with marker pen and there is a dent to one arm where the cross must have been clamped to be repaired.

It certainly has some character and I only know of fakes of this style that have floch type assemblies.

Grateful for all opinions, many thanks

            IMO a fake.
The front side look's like the one piece fake with L/15 mark.
I don't believe that LDO EK's are in one piece construction.

            Regards

            Daniel

I agree with Daniel on this one, it doesn't fill me with confidence looking at it and doesn't compare favourably with any known originals.
It looks like it is cast from a soft metal, does it bend easily?
I've circled a couple of areas that look like it has been held in a vice or something along those lines? This also make me thinks it is soft metal.

                  It's a fake indeed.

This type of pin is used on many other different fakes, including some other ek fakes.

                  Best regards,
                  Ben

Thanks for the help guys I will send it back. It isn't soft metal and I guess what was throwing me off was the repair to the pin. Thanks for having a look.
