It's a German Eagle Order - sometimes called the Order of the German Eagle, but not sure which class it is............

Order of the German Eagle (Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler) A TR era arawd for foierners only usually diplomatic types.

      Some notable awards

HRH the Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII)
      Henry Ford
      Charls Lienbergh

      the list is rather long

I think this one is the fith class without swords

Check this link for a good history of it

                Is a 1937 3rd Eagle order, not a 5Th class.

The Cross without fan are the first models of the order of the German Eagle. This third class was instituted in 1937

                  the order

We seem to be searching our combined knowledges as to the class of this Eagle Order. As there is now "fan" over the connection loop, I agree with Rommel, however, I have found this example of the 1st Class 1937 version.

To clarify more the issue, I put the categories, according to the Ordinance of 1937-1939-1943

                      1937-1939

                      1943
