    I know a lot of fakes out there mm'd 51, is this one of them??? thanks for any help..

                      Wouldnt it have been nice if all the germans actually had their crosses personaized. Wich by the way almost never happened. I view every one with one eyebrow raised...

                        You can just about bet that any EK1 Engraved or acid etched in the manner will be a fake!
                        On one hand it would have been really cool if the vets had thier award date and unit info added to the crosses! On the other if it was OFTEN done by the vets at a Jeweler after the award ceremony, then it would be OFTEN FAKED TODAY!!!!
                        So yes there may be a few Wartime engraved examples out there, However unless it was from the hands of the German vet I would have serious doubts about any example, Period!

                          On the other hand, Crosses Inscribed by hand, in a field or hand scratched manner are often seen and have credibility!
