Maybe I am wrong but I heard that the Klein & Quenzer Knight's Cross dies still existed and were being used to make copies that are almost perfect. This would explain why there are so many mint condition ones in circulation.

I think Gordon Williamson mentioned something about that too! Very scary to say the least. I too have wondered about the proliferation of "65" crosses and really have trouble reasoning the "train load" stories or even that they were "dumped" in the trash at war's end.
