IMO it is an original ;-) But why is there a white border?

The white border looks fine, the Etui sure looks new though and the base is an odd color perhaps due to lighting? Nice cross!

Base

Is the base actually grey? Does it glow with under blacklight? Jim

I am still not sold on the base, with the new photo I see no Numbers or lettering like 621KB as usually found stamped on bottom of the base in this style Etui. or the 2597D&B as usually found on dome lidded Etui Base. The base and piece of fabric may be postwar added? Or is this a 57 case? Or good repro? Post in in the case forum for opinions if not already there.
