    Brass core EKII Unknown maker...

    Hello guys,

Just bought that EKII on WAF but there is not any markings on the ring.
Is this possible to know the maker?
The core is made of brass so maybe it cuts down the number of possible manufacturers?

    Thank you in advance!!

It's an Otto Schickle with magnetic core.

Looks like the swastika was painted and the paint drip on the bottom of the obverse side's 9 o'clock arm bled through to the reverse side. Thats what it looks like from the photo, don't pillory me if I'm wrong...

I admit that on the photo the swastika looks almost painted but believe me the core is REALLY brass colored under the black paint.

Daniel, you said that it was magnetic even if showed a brass core and you are right. the center is magnetic. However, I have an EKI with brass core made by Ferdinand Hoffstatter and the core is not magnetic at all...

I am a little puzzlled here. Can brass core EK can be magnetic as well as iron ones? Maybe a stupid question but I don't know...

        Regards.

Yes, it's a Schickle, the same as your other example in this thread: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=340898

I have a cross that has a magnetic core but its plated with copper, maybe yours is brass plated? Glad to hear that its not been painted brass colored!

I checked elsewhere on the net and brass IS non-magnetic.

When I put a magnet on the core it stays in place... And Daniel stated that it was a Schinckle magnetic cross.

So, unless someone has the magical answer, I do not understand!!

Ausgang has given you the magical answer. Some cores are plated with brass/copper/nickel over the magnetic base so it is possible to have an apparently non magnetic core which is actually magnetic.

                    Schickle or Shinkel...but not Schinckle.

                    Hello Kirk09,

Slightly off topic but if you are new to EK you may not be aware of these differences...that's a Schickle not a Schinckle. There is also a Shinkelform cross. Note the different spellings.

                    Kind regards,
                    Stu

Thanks everybody for your help on the cross.

And you are right Stu W. Thanks for correcting me on "Schickle" term.
