Hi all. I am new here, sorry if this is not the place to post questions (if not please point me to the direction!) but I had several about EKs.

I must admit, I know virtually NOTHING about these wonderful peices with the exception that that were obviously military rewards for Germany lol.

Anyhow I guess my ignorance is the marks, the frosting, the build (think someone said they should be 3 peice creations. What does this mean, how do you tell by looking?) Magnetic VS non magnetic core, etc etc (so basically everything esthetic lol).

I am very intrested in getting my hands on a few awards but this one to me is just so awsome (I am sure a lot of hardcore collectors don't consider it a big deal since it's probably one of the most available German awards out there, or so it seems). My only worry is getting a hunk of junk. Obviously not trying to offend any of the posters here lol I, like everybody else, just wants to make sure they are getting bang for the buck, and since I am a bit ignorant of the hobbie I figured I would see if anyone could post some info or PM me etc etc. Thank for reading and hope to get some info soon! Great site here, just sorry it took me this long to find it!

Welcome to the forum and if you're interested in EKs then this is the place to be!
My best advice would be to read the threads and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. There is no such thing as a stupid question because we all had to start somewhere! Use the 'search' function above and it would be wise to pay the $25 to become an Association Member.
You can pick up some decent EKs on the estand and you're fairly certain to pick up a good one as most fakes get called out and removed.
The forum is the place to get the most up to date info on fakes and what to look for and you will benefit from a vast selection of experienced and knowledgeable collectors.

Thanks for the info. This site just seems to good to be true! lol I was very much impressed with the amount of knowledgable people who share insight while I was reading up. Along with my search of EKs and other great medals/awards I am intrested in tracking down some information about a particular division. Is there much knowledge about those sorts of things here, or is this more strictly a collectors site? Thanks again!

There are people here who have the answer to most things, you just have to ask. There is a forum for research so it might be an idea to start there.
