    Iron Cross 1st Class

    Hi,
I have recently acquired an Iron Cross 1st Class 1939. There is nothing written at the back. Does that mean it is not genuine? How can i distinquish a genuine one from a fake?
    Thanks.

Hello there, I see you are a newcomer.
1st Class Iron crosses are not always marked so you can not make any decision based on that. Best option is for you to post photos of the cross on this forum so that all the members can take a look and give you their opinions. You have to pay a membership fee for that but it is a good investment (even when you compare it to the cost of a single EK1).
    Cheers

      Hello

Terry is right : many EK1 were unmarked and no maker mark is definitively not a bad sign.
As Terry wisely said, the best thing would be to have pic from both obverse and reverse sides to give an opinion.
Paying the membership fee is the best solution but you can also import pics from a host website by pasting the full URL in your thread.
      Regards
      Denis
PS : welcome to the forum, you will learn a lot of things in this place !

Distinquishing a genuine EK from a fake can be VERY difficult. Modern fakes are getting better and better. Thankfully, they are still prone to stupid mistakes. Craftmanship, details, measurements, materials, manufacturing technics and the pin/catch system are some of the things that makes the difference between a fake and an genuine piece. As Denis and Terry said, pics are quite essential.

        Ps. Welcome to the forum!
