I'm pretty sure this is a Deschler...

Hi, I received this EK2 with some other items, from what I've heard on these forums it's a Deschler. Obvious signs would be the maker mark, which in this case i think is 1, but its not too clear and I just wanted to check.

Also, is it common for D&S to mark the other way to other makers, i.e along the ring instead of horizontally imprinting it (if you know what i mean)?

Yep, it's a Deschler! I don't think I've seen a Deschler marked in any other way than along the ring. Meybauer is another maker that springs to mind who marks their EKs in this way.

A nice Deschler indeed. To the best of my knowledge they always marked their rings lengthways as yours is.

I've also noticed a slight rattling of the core, does this effect its value or appeal much?

Value? No difference whatsoever. Appeal? Non whatsoever unless someone really, really wants an EK with a rattling core!
