19 out of 56 would not buy a S&L and then this:

    QUOTE:

Since all Steinhauer Knight's Crosses are reproductions, or at best suspect, I am buying any, flawed or unflawed for the price of good reproductions.

    ENDQUOTE

Is this the new version of "Fuzzy Math" so often quoted lately? Or is somebody trying to corner the market with fuzzy statements....

I guess the very long thread has shown that flawed S&L were produced before the end of the war or did I read everything wrong? Even the initial suspected pieces were never called reproductions, fakes or anything else. The question was about the production time frame ... every discussed cross was and is still a S&L made with the same die maybe by the same people.

Bob, your conclusion puzzles me a little bit..

          Knight´s Crosses

I have offered fake-top-prices for flawed SLs... Not one singel ****ing answer!

This autumn a German dealer told me that ALL Klein & Quenzer KCs are fakes,
as K & Q never produced them... And he had a conviencening story, too.

A VERY wellknown English dealer tried to fool me with postwar made S&L flawed crosses a few years ago (before the discussion started here). They are miles from an original Steinhauer & Lück (with or without flawes).

Wasn´t it Goebbels who said, that if you repeat a lie may times enough, people will believe you?

Once again: I buy S & L crosses with flawes!!!

Actually, just for the record, I haven't yet handled any 800 S&L cross that has an absolutely "flash" clean frame ......I suspect that many that are supposed to be to have no flaws actually do have some traces if you know where to look. Having owned examples from all of the manufacturers I can say without a doubt that S&L are my favourites.
FACT: Original pre 1945 S&L 800 crosses exist with flaws. That has been demonstrated on this forum.

                  935's

Presumably 935 S&L's are OK or should we add them to the poll also

I know of 2 with providence that were awarded late 1944 and both have the same minor flaw in the same place.

I'd say the evidence speaks for itself.

                      Hello,

It's really a question of risk. Now if the S&L RK's cost the same price of EK1's, I wonder if people's opinions would differ? I personally cannot afford the risk of the market blowing a different direction and so my opinion is tainted by the possibility it could, which is a shame. If money was no object, then I would like to own all of the variations. So what I am trying to say is, people's stance on this is purely relative to their financial worth or expertise in this area. As I don't profess to be an expert and my financial worth is relatively finite, I would be cautious and buy another RK until one of these 2 areas changed.

Sorry for being ignorant with an average income.

                      Craig.

I wonder if any of the 'new' members in the months since this poll was started have a S&L showing any degree of flaw?

I noticed that Bill Shea has another S&L RK on his site (as of the update on Friday) with the flaw(s). Most easily visible in the scan of the '1939' and the bottom of the 6 o'clock arm. Check it out here:

That's something alright!!! Bill's words could melt steel....heck he almost had me going!!! Thanks Skip....I'll bet Dietrich would like as clear a picture of the 3oc arm as that of the 6oc!!

                            Any others out there?

Bill has it on his web site because up until “the internet”, “experts” ripped these apart they were considered 100% original. Bill Shea and Detlev have handled them over the years and we all have great respect for these two icons of the hobby. The written word and people without experience enough have destroyed a nice cross. That is of coerce, as long as they have the proper core. By the way, I will be happy to buy any of your flawed RKs and pay a reasonable price!

                              Best Wishes,
