It a funny thing that many of us who also collected Commonwealth medals and groupings use to like a good set of gongs that were well polished.
This meant the vet that owned them wore them and was proud of them.
I was never attracted to minty out of the packet CW medals like many are with TR decorations, myself included.
Of course like TR items if I got a good 'salty' CW group I never polished them I just left them as is, Singular items I use to polish or at least clean up a bit. One example is the Canadian War Volunteer Service Medal, it was silver and could be dipped quite easily to clean it up an improve its price a little..
Sort of the opposite of TR collectors.
