    Convex IC1

    Hi,
Would like to know if my IC1 I just purchased which is convex and mm20 (Zimmermann).
(I hope Detlev does not mind me using his photo)
Is an early made IC1 before the rules for making IC1 were changed i.e 1941?

    Thanks for any help

It's my understanding that Prasidialkanzlei numbers (the "20") were not in use until after mid-1944, so I would surmise that it is not an early piece.
    (I also have a convex, "20"-marked Zimmermann EK 1.)

        Convexed IC1

        George,
I sent you a responded, and was looking at "The Iron Time of 1939"
by Mr. Williamson on page 122 states "tighten up of regulations in 1941"
on the making of any IC. Then if I understand Zimmermann (mm 20)
made IC aginst the approval of the Ordenskanzlei; and are these rare?

        Thanks Raul

Here's my "20" Zimmermann, very slightly vaulted and with a repainted core .

I don't think that these vaulted pieces, even if made against regulations, are that rare.

                  Raul,

Yes, but the core is repainted. In fact, I almost went after the one on Detlev's site (the one you got) to replace it, but the funding wasn't there....

                    Round 3

                    Evening,
Not to change the subject, in a sence.
I purchased an IC2 with round three's and noticed under the inner
rim of the beading is a small slot (at the three o'clock) in the center.
Both the obverse and back have this at the same location.
I think that these are from one die?

                    Thanks for any Info
                    Raul
                    P.S Should I have started a new Post/Thread?

I don't see what you're talking about based on that picture (nor on examination of my own "Round 3" EK 2). But you might get a better response if you post the question in a new thread with a new title.

                        George,
You are correct I forgot to mention i do not have a picture of
what I am trying to explain. But I will post a new thread.
(Must be the one hour time diffrence)

                        Thanks

Here is my vaulted Zimmerman. It is marked 20 under the pin like George's.

Every Zimmermann marked EK1 that I have seen and held (roughly 20-25) has had it's arms bent back. Not a true concave cross like a typical WW1 piece, just bent arms to give it more of a multidimensional look as well as secure it tighter to the uniform.
