    '61' WMC 2nd class

    Hello, gentlemen.
Has anyone ever seen a '61' marked WMC? I find it much different from other WMC's I have seen in the past, having a slight taper to the ends of the swords and the larger butts on the sword handles. The suspension device that attaches to the cross is one solid piece with a hole the size of the ribbon loop drilled through it. Finished quite nicely. It's an early buntmetal piece with full ribbon. Any other photos of an early '61'?

I don't know how early this one is, but here it is.

          George,
Many thanks, Sir. I have become very optimistic after seeing your offering. Unless someone intervenes with something else contrary, I'm going to conclude that this piece is authentic.

          Good evening.

Oh yes, I think yours is good. No doubt.

But arenĀ“t the tapered swords different? Both crosses look good, but what do you make of that?

              Cheers, Frank

Maybe the awardee, or someone else, filed them that way for a more dramatic effect. (The stippling on the arms of both crosses matches.)
