    L/11 EKI Spange

    Hello All,
Wondering if anyone has any pics of an EKI spange with maker mark L/11 on it they could post so I can compare with mine? It is identical to the one rgordon features on his site with the same wide pin, but mine is marked L/11, so far all similar marked pieces seem to have a needle pin.
    Thank you in advance.

That's my spange your referring to so I hope you enjoyed my site! I've always heard that L/11 EK1 spanges should have a needle pin. There may be exceptions to the rule, but the best way is to post a pic of your piece first.

If you can't post directly yourself, e-mail the pics to me and I'll post them for you.

    Regards

Adrian, i own a L/11 spange and it has a needle pin, the L/11 is in a box under the pin and the numbers (11) do not have a serif on the bottom. hope that helps, sonny

As far as I know Deumer coded their badges in 4 ways:

        Full Name/Address
        L/11
        L/11 in Box
        3 in box

        eg:

          Hello Adrain,

A Deumer EK1 spange was recently discussed over at Germandaggers.com. Check this tread, I think you will find what you are looking for...

There are some good quality fakes aroundwith the L/11 mark and a wide type pin. The real Deumer Spange is a lovely thin striking, about 2mm thick. The copy with wide pin is nearly twice as thick.

All die details should be exactly like the one shown by Bill. The fake, although well made,is doesn't have exactly the same die characteristics so can be seen note to have come from the Deumer tooling.
If the piece is 2mm thick and matches the Deumer shown here exactly, you should be safe with it, though I personally have never seenone with a Deumer mark combined with a wide pin.

Although it is partially obscured by the pin, the spange has an L/11 in the box. Note....the spange hever had a seperate catch applied (and removed) and the EK never had a hinge applied (and removed). I believe this one was put together at the factory.

                Opinions?

                Thanks,
                Mark
