2 KVK cases

Greetings and Happy New Year; I just acquired 2 KVK Ist class cases, one with swords and one without . I noticed quite a difference in constuction as to release pins, and hinges. Would one be an earlier issue or simply different manufacturers. Any information that can be provided is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Another pic of the case with swords that I put a 2nd class medal in just for a display .Notice how the lid is simply attached to the lining of the case instead of having a hinge. Thank you for all replies and comments. All the best.
