    Ek2 mm 126 or 128 question

    Hallo,

I don't have any EK books yet (shame I know ) so I have the following question:

I have an EK2 with mm 126 or 128 on the ring (can't tell due to an indent of sorts on the 6 or 8, I'm pretty sure its for 126 though),

Also the the mm is on the back side of the ring on the EK2 where the 1813 resides, has anyone seen this with either of these makers?

    Many thanks!

Post Scriptum : I'll try to get a pic or two posted.

    Thanks again.

    Cross is 3-piece, magnetic core.

          Thanks George,

The immediate difference seen by me is the position of the ring soldered on the frame in relation to mine.

It's gotta be 126 for Eduard Hahn Oberstein/Nahe then.

I would suggest that it is a '128' by S. Jablonski.

                ....well ok then.

As you two have more experience in this sector than I, 128 it is!

schows me thinner 3 and 1's
the 1813 is posision is lower then George's

the 8 is close i must say .

is it a variation off the core ??

the upper curl off the 8 is extreemly smaller then the lowest curl i see in the first picture

looks also different than the mm128 where jou have also thinner lines in that 8

a variation ????,,or am i getting old

                    reg,,,kay

If you have a look through some of the '128' marked EKs on the forum, you will be able to identify many similarities in the frame and also see some variations in the core but will also be able to match your example to others.
I, personally have never seen a '126' marked EK2, searching the forum doesnt offer anything by way of solid pics, mainly misidentified examples. If any members have or can provide photos of a dead cert EK2 marked '126' I hope they will post it here.

                          Thanks Adrian,

                          I'll have another look.

I'm still not 100% sure on 126 vs. 128, when I acquired it from Peter at Collectors Guild a year few back he said he was 95% sure it was a 126 if that means anything.

EDIT: found some pics of mm 126 on the board, and I am now 100% sure mine is a 128.

I saw that one and believe that particular cross is a '123'. As you probably found out, there is very little in the way of '126' marked EKs on show which makes me wonder if there are any confirmed examples out there.
If you take a look at Antti's thread here:http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=64739 there are only two listed as being in peoples collections and I wonder if they are actual '126's or possibly examples such as you've posted where the mark may be mistaken.

Here is the reverse core of a 128 in my collection. Notice the deterioration of the date detail - one of the reasons to repair the core or replace it.
