    Paul,

The Knights Cross is a minefield for inexperienced collectors, which includes me. In the past year, I have purchased at least four reference books on German combat awards. Additionally, drawing upon the experience of members of this forum is invaluable as well. My advice is to first purchase reference books such as ones offered here:

http://www.ironcross1939.com (no, I don't get a fee for suggesting this site)

Also, become a full member of the forum so you can post photographs of items you are considering purchasing. More experienced members will then advise you of their opinions.

If you want a genuine Knights Cross, plan on spending several thousand dollars (probably at least $8,000 - $9,000, if not more). One with Oak Leaves and Swords would probably require a significant loan unless you are a lottery winner.

    Good luck,

    Matt

Excellent advice. The final sentence there says it all.

i think the knights cross with oakleaves & swords was only awarded 159 times, so the chances of it being a genuine piece are virtually nil!!
