    Ideas on EKII maker?

This one has stumped me for quite some time. I've searched and searched for a match, but found none. It's probably very simple, but I'm just missing it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Robert, That is one Gawd Awfully ugly cross! The beading is killer especially the outer corner on the 3 oclock arm!
No clue whom the maker is but Thank You for sharing!

You bet! Yeah, it's got flaws, but I believe it's an original. I've posted it months ago with no feedback on a maker then. Maybe with some luck this time. It's my only unidentified cross.

Have a great Christmas tomorrow, Kevin.

Maybe C.F. Zimmermann, the number and frame design look's like this maker (if you compare with the "20" or "L/52" KC's in Dietrich's book).

At first I thought it could be by maker 21, 125 or 56, but the front design was wrong.
All EK II's with maker's mark 20 which I know are all in standard design. IMO they are all with a post war mark.
Why should C.F. Zimmermann used a standard design if they used for his EK I produktion a distinctive number and frame design?
If C.F. Zimmermann produced EK II's then they must be like your's (IMO).

              Regards

              Daniel

                  #20 L/52 C.F Zimmermann EK2

When i saw the cross i thought C.F Zimmermann too, mostly because i'm looking into an alledged EK2 C.F Zimmermann Prinzen with similar beading and the only cross i found with that kind of "thick wide" beading is the C.F Zimmermann Knights Cross. Have anybody seen a 20 or L/52 marked EK2? I remember a 20 marked cross in some tread here, but can not remember how it looked like. Is there a University course in Iron Cross Forensics

Thanks everyone. This is the first lead I've had. I'll take a look in Dietrich's KC book, Daniel. Thank you.

This is just my thinking, but if C. Zimmermann made an EKII which differed from their EKI counterpart, they would be the only manufacturer out of continuity (the only EKII which doesn't resemble it's EKI counterpart).

Daniel, although this EKII's numbering system 'resembles' the KC's numbers, there ARE some differences. The sweeping tops of the 3's for one, and the large open bottom area of the same number. Also, in the inner beading adjacent the swasi, the little beads laying at every corner at a 45 degree angle are absent on my EKII. You've done a great job in bringing me close to what could be a C. Zimmermann EKII, but in my thinking I would expect to see it looking like it's EKI brother. I appreciate the work you've done, and you could very well be right. Besides, who has ever seen an original C. Zimmermann EKII?
