A very worn die on this L59 ,.... some one has cleaned the back severly .

Douglas is right in the obverse having been cleaned with much... shall we say Over Effort! The MM Number L58 was misstamped perhaps? as the 58 appear out of line with the 5 sitting higher than the 8, and the L looks odd? Good portion of the ~ mark is still visable! Perhaps just a poor stamp of the MM.
The core has the typical low Swastika and Numbers in the 1939 match well with mine as does the frame beading
Good find as L59 screwbacks do not come up for sale often! I like the worn look of this veteran cross!
