    I need Spange opinion.

    Thanks.

The cross is bad and I've never seen damage like that on a spange before.

I'm losing track with EK1s, but it doesn't look too bad to me. Maybe a totally replaced pin etc?
The spange looks like it could be good. I've seen damage like that before, mainly from cleaning fluids. I myself would take a gamble on that spange
        what's the website?
        regards

          The cross is crap.
Hard to recognize, but I guess it is supposed to represent a round 3.
Which it may be, but definitely not an original.

I like the clasp as well.
If a plated object is dug up after a long period in the ground, the plating is lifted.
This could be a dug up one.

          Best regards,
          Ben

the EK1 cannot be worse. Look at the "1939", bad quality. The pin is also totally wrong.

I totally agree with you tinmantis,
is a Cross of bad quality and maybe totally replaced pin and repainted cross.

              The web site is Militaria321.com.

              Best regards.

Very bad EK1. the date is a total mess. The beading itself is not the worse I have seen to be honest.... but the pin++ is horrible

The only thing about the ek taht is POSSIBLE good, is the frame.
Core, in and backplate are crap.

                    Best regards,
                    Ben

I believe that core was repainted because it was rusty.
Hence the bad quality of date.

I belive the frame and the core are good and the pin was totally remplaced.

So is this a tombak spange or what? NS wouldn't be plated and if it was zink or tombak I would expect to see the base metal peeking through.

If the cross is real you should be able to match core/frame details to an original. I think the beeading on the frame looks Latvian.

Don, have you compared it to a Zimmermann already???

You actually see the base metal of the clasp if you look carefully, it brass colored.....

                            best regards,

I don't see any yellow, which the last time I looked was the color of tombak.
