theres are market for everyone I guess.

I'd prefer to know that a KC that was in my hands was worn proudly rather than stacked on a shelf of some factory then being bombed to oblivion later on that night. Its like those russian hordes eks, window dressing in my opinion.

I agree.......Nothing beats a nice worn KC, over an unissued piece that hasn't seen any action. I regret selling my KC of Botho von Frantzius, but we are only temporary custodians of it all, aren't we

With the current price of RK's, this may be as close as some buyers will get to owning an original example!

Speaking as one who has a certain predilection towards "window dressing", I find it encouraging that your interest will obviously leave more "mint/unissued" items for me to collect . Whether it be an item from the Russian Hoard, Schloss Klesshem or the factory shelf, each is a part of history albeit from a slightly different perspective. However, I do draw the line when it comes to incinerated artifacts!

I like both. A well worn cross speaks to the history of the wearer. A mint cross in the case shows me what a recipiant saw the day he was presented with the item.

While I can certainly understand/appreciate those beautiful mint unissued items, especially when it comes to a KC -- . I personally enjoy militaria because I can hold an item in my hand which might have been present on a battlefield, or that the item in my hand was a source of pride or an object of great sentimental value for the man/woman who earned it. It's like capturing a moment of history in tangible form. So therefore I personally prefer an item which is in good condition but has honest signs of wear. An item which was touched only by the factory workers who made it, just doesn't have the same allure for me.

Close. My lovebird is taking a chunk out of my repro dkig box, she snapped at it while I was taking a photo of it and wouldn't let go.
