EK2 MINT SPANGE with packet- OPINIONS??

Hi Guys,
I just picked up this ek2 mint spange with much frosting and the packet/ribbon it supposedly came with. Any help is really appreciated, as awards are not my area of expertise. Spange is unmarked. What I noticed right off is the the ends of the pins are pretty much straight cut. Is that common or a bad sign? The detail on the actual piece is very nice.
