    Iron Cross 2nd class...damaged.

    Hello and welcome to WA.

You have what appears to be a damaged Iron Cross 2nd Class. Commonly called an EKII. Those little "holes" are where a fixed ring would have been attached to the frame. Attached to that ring would have been a larger ribbon ring and ribbon. If you spend some time at the front end of this web site you can read all about the types of Iron Cross and see how they are made and should look.

    Kind regards,
    Stu

        Hello and welcome,
I agree with Stu, an original EK2 that is missing its rings. Not a difficult fix if you choose to do so.

I would take a stab at it being a '13' Gustav Brehmer from the pics.

            Adrian,

I'm not disputing your guess at this being a '13'; I'm just posting some shots to help us all take a closer look at the dates, etc.. I haven't come to any maker yet, still comparing details with crosses I have reference to. One thing very interesting, the swasi has really sharp corners - 90 degree corners.

                Hi Robert,
No problem and I'm open to being corrected , I was basing my guess on the frame details, they seem to be a very close match to a '13'. If it is by Brehmer it hasn't got the raised swastika core.

                    Begin at the beginning...

                    Hello,

Here is a link to a page with a 13 on it. I feel you would benefit greatly by spening some time reading that section. Then what you see here would make more sense.

Or use the search function at top right and type in '13' or 'Brehmer' and you can browse through the threads containing these EKs.
