Godet Spange for Iron Cross 1st Class - Opinion Request

    Hello folks,

I examined the spange shown in the below photos at the SOS. It it stamped '21' for Godet on the reverse. I would certainly appreciate a few opinions from the more knowledgable forum participants.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Apart from a thicker pin, it looks like a Deumer example (needle pin, boxed L/11 type) but I've never seen one of these marked 21 before. I'm not sure what to make of this one.

Yes, similar to a Deumer spange...

      Hello Mike,

I agree with your comment about the similarities between this spange and Deumer's EK1 spange. They both feature the same hinge and the same neddle pin. The pin on this one may be slightly larger in diameter. The both have the maker mark stamped in the same location on the back.

However, the Deumer example that I have seen has a different style catch. Also, the two spanges differ in the overall features found on the front of the badge.

Hopefully someone else will chime in and give an opinion on this spange.

Does anyone have a photo of a known original Godet EK1 spange?

      Thanks,

      Calvin
