    Picked up a "86" EK2 last night

Relatively rare I understand. Paulmann & Crone Ludenscheid. Luck of the draw. I don't collect these by makers. I was just going to stick it in my gun show case for sale with the rest of the stuff I use as bait. I'm more into the connections between Axis and Central powers and their cavalry stuff. Doug

That's not a Paulmann & Crone. That mark is 98.
And Paulmann & Crone didnt mark their crosses, and they had a different frame and core. that looks more like a Souval, 98, however, shouldn't there be a dipping 3 in the 1939 date?

      Souval 98 IMHO

      Hi Doug,

      With respect, I feel that's a Souval 98.

      Regards,
      Stu

          86 V 98

When I look at it the top "O" of the 8 looks smaller when viewed this way and sort of makes sense but I'm no expert. I don't know one from another really. Doug

            Hi Douglas,

the others are right, it is a 98 Souval ek2.

The tell- tale sign for Souval are the birds-feet at the outer corners of the frame-ribbing.

@Steinar: Souval used at least 2-3 different cores, the " dipping 3" is just one of those.

            Best regards,
            Ben

I'll stick it in the case with the rest of the stuff on the table then. Thanks Guys. Doug
