EK2 Spange ' Prinzen '

Thanks for that. When I originally got this about three or four years ago I posted it on here a couple of times as I wasn't certain about it, as well as on other forums. Nobody raised any red flags or gave any adverse comments, and on a couple of forums it had a 'thumbs up'. So, to satisfy my curiousity, when did this type of 'Prinzen' bar become deemed as a fake? And on what evidence / basis?

When I asked when this type of 'prinzen' bar was deemed as a fake, and what the supporting evidence is for this conclusion, I was asking out of genuine curiousity and to gain knowledge.

So, for the same reason as given above I'll put the question again. When did this type of 'Prinzen' bar become deemed as a fake? And on what evidence / basis?

I'd really appreciate knowing, as I suspect would others on here. How else can we learn and avoid the many pitfalls (and fakes) in this hobby?

Hi David,

I'm not sure when I saw this type for the first time, but I have disliked it from the start.
It doesn't fit in with the known originals.

I don't have any proof either way, it's mainly gut-feeling.
I haven't been after clasps for to long, and when you don't collect them usually you forget them pretty easily.

Pherhaps one of the other members can get you the answers you are looking for.

I know of 3 makers of prinzen spangen, and this IMO isn't one of them
I'm beginning to realise I started seeing these a few years ago, gut feeling told me that these weren't from some sort of hidden horde. the details are sloppy, the finish is Polish, and with fake L/12 or 107 mms (so far)

Thanks guys As I said in my earlier post, I wasn't sure about it either when I got it. Fortunately it doesn't stand me at much money. Whilst I know exactly what you mean, it would be nice to have something other than gut feeling though.
