    Leigh,

    of course not. Everybody can disagree with me or any other moderator in this forum. And there is a mile long record proving that. You just need to look.

    The reason here was that this particular individual was already expelled the first time years ago and he has such an affection to this forum (and to me and the diamonds...) that he comes back like a boomerang. But he is always caught since his 'style' and MO gives him away in a second - even when he tries to camouflage it with spelling errors or other oddities.
    It is a rule that those people are not allowed back. Even if they agree with me or any other moderator!

    Furthermore he was sending me a not very polite PM:

    Your name suggests your first language is not English, but your understanding of it suggests you not very intelligent?
    Giving him away immediately!

    But he is no loss! He did not disagree with me - by the way - he was talking nonsense. Real "Diamonds" are either made of Platinum with real Diamonds OR are made of silver with Rhinestones. Not - as he suggested - silver with diamonds. And a drill is needed ...

    But he can't be faulted. He could not make it beyond the fact that he never had the possibility to check out a genuine set - not to speak of several. That is what he dislikes in me... among other things.

    So don't fear! (Unless you are him )

    Dietrich

    PS: One would assume that a unjustly banned member would complain about the misdeed, or? Well, hasn't happened and he was online at the time of banishment.

      I am guessing you are talking about Tom Hansen?

        No, Tom was never impolite to me and he would never talk such utter nonsense. Don't guess, I will not say it anyway.

            Hi Dietrich, I never understand why everyone keeps names silent. It would be useful to know where what information comes from in the future. Especially on such high end items. Knowing agendas help one sort facts from bias.

              I may slow witted but I assume, (And it looks like from my utrained eye), but the oaks with white background are likely to be more original than the others?

                blue=bad

                white= good

                or to phrase it diplomatically

                blue= bad-ish

                white= good-er

                  Dmytro,
                  You are correct. The set with the white background are the real deal and like any beauty, the backsides are very interesting to look at as well. I, like others on this forum, may not own a set but have had the pleasure to be able to examine and handle sets over the years. Photos will never do them justice and once in the hand they are something you just don't forget the details of. If you are new to the forum, Dietrich is a repository of good information so listen and heed what he says. I have never had the pleasure of meeting him but what he states he backs up with fact not hearsay and if he doesn't have the facts he will clearly state it. I like and respect that.

                  Leigh,
                  Welcome. I am not one of the "big boys" here but enjoy this place in the electronic waste land. Sometimes the discussions get a bit heated but they are almost always informative if not entertaining. Sometimes you might have to wade through a little bovine excrement from some of us but there is always something to learn here every day. Hope you enjoy the forums as much as I have.

                  Mike

                    Hi Mike, thanks and yes I am a relative new-comer, in the sense of postings, I have however watched the various threads over a period of time with great interest, not just TR decorations but also Imperial, and also headgear. Most of my collecting centers around the lower end of the spectrum but indeed enjoy seeing what those with the wherewithall (and finances) can collect the top end. Additionally, there is a hell of a lot of expertise and information here, and have learned a great deal, (Never heard of Latvian fakes etc before joining!).

                    It's a slow process but I have learned a lot, and hopefully avoid the usual pitfalls.

                    regards

                      Given that the basic framework was from a die, and not individually hand crafted as I assumed earler, were these awards "Made to order" or in a, admittedly small batch?, The reason for asking is that it's well known that there were 27 official awards, platinum etc, and a smaller number of official wearers copies as I understand not all recipients received the second, silver/Rhinestone copies. If they were batch produced similar to the OL, OLS, are there more "Official" pieces" knocking around than those that were actually awarded? I'm not talking about privately made pieces here

                      regards

                        An unknown number of "official sets" were recovered by GI's from the "hoard" found at Schloss Klessheim.

                          Thanks for the info. Would they be the "A" Platinum or "B" silver set or is it unknown?

                            Unknown at this point what exactly came from there. No inventory made.

                                Also Klein

                                Alex,
                                It is also my understanding that Klein made some pieces after the war. I don't have the book in front of me but I believe Gordon Williamson had reference to this in the back of his book. I don't have Dietrich's book to refer to but perhaps someone with better knowledge than I could confirm this and what type if set was produced if this is true. If I am not mistaken I think I recall a post war set having been sold in the last year in the low 4 figures.
