strange L58 screwback?

    Thanks for all the replies so far

    The quality on the edges looks real good and it is definately three piece construction. If it was taken apart and resoldered upsidedown whoever did it was a profesional. There are no excessive grinding marks or features that would lead me to believe that but anything is possible. The soldering between the inside edges is pretty much perfect in what most would like to see.

      My SB is ...

      plate: 3.86 grams,
      cross (magnetic core): 17.48 grams,
      combined weight: 21.344 grams.

        The loss of material makes up for the 1 gram+ as the screwplates are very close in weight. The cross measures with a tape measure about 44mm X 43.5 mm. How do these measurements conform?

            Maybe the craftman had a bad day...did assembel the back upside down, and not in line with the front. Then he had to file away some excess mats to make it look nice, and leaving the bevel edge...just a thought
