    My First German Cross In Gold

    Over Thirty Years ago when I was raising a family and selling radios on the road, and had very little extra money for the hobby, I found this German Cross In Gold in a small shop in Louiseville, Kentucky.

    The enamel is damaged and the pin has been replaced, but it was so exciting to me, I had to have it.

    The owner agreed to let me pay it off in a couple of payments.

    I paid it off after three visits and caressed it all the 250 miles back home.

    This one will always be a "keeper" for me.

          What makes you think the pin was replaced? This type is the correct one for an early Deschler (and this one is an early Deschler as already pointed out). The pin was twisted, true, but replaced?

                  War Order of the German Cross

                  Ron,

                  I bought my DKiG from Forman in July 1975. It cost £75 and was my first "big ticket" purchase. I had just got married and didn't have the cash so I borrowed the money from the bank but never told them the truth about why I needed the money. It is a nice "20" marked Zimmermann.

                  Two years ago whilst I was at a show in Germany, Craig Gottlieb showed me a lovely Juncker DKiG which he had just purchased and asked me if I could look after it for him for the night. I was sorely tempted to buy it off him to replace the one I had bought 30 years ago but just couldn't do it. I am sure you understand why!
