    RK: fake or good

Here's the story: I bought a guy's collection from his widow. He collected anything in the way of military medals from WW II, American, British, German, etc. A lot of his German stuff was fake ("He paid some very high prices for those to (name deleted) Auction House in England so I know they're real"). One frame was labeled "Iron Cross 1939" and had all the levels of EK except diamond awards up to and including the Grand Cross. A quick look at the GC and one of the RK's showed that they were Rudolph Souval pieces so I assumed all the RK's were RS maker. Oaks and Oaks and Swords obvious non TR pieces as well. When I opened the frame to remove the various awards I noted that one of the RK's was much heavier than the others and as I looked more closely the core was definately different than the typical RK pieces. So my question is whether there is a rose among the thorns or just a different kind of thorn. I would feel pretty stupid if I sold off something good as a fake so I am asking expert opinion on this one cross to ease my mind. I know the pics aren't the best but I think the characteristics are clear enough to be able to say yea or ney. The cross wieghed in at 29 grams without the loop. The frame is also a bit different shape than the RS frame. First pic is of the RS cross (left) and the cross in question (right). If better pics are needed I can try again but right now I am very frustrated with my photographic abilities. As always, I appreciate the time those of you who look at this thread take to evaluate the cross. This forum is beyond value when it comes to things like this.

              frame

Here's where the pics get ba(worse) -sorry. I try to show the frame here. It is thick near the core and gets thinner as you go out to the edges of the arms.

                Swas

The swastica is taller than a RS pice and reaches the level of thew frame edge.

                    Pitts

The other notable thing about this cross is that the rear of the core is pitted in the center.

That's all the pics. I hope that gives enough information. I am glad to provide more if needed. Again, thank to everyone who looks. I hope I am not wasting everyone's time.
