wide of ribbons

Hello,
I know, that may question may look a little stupid. But I Would like to know, why there are ribbons longer than other. I am speaking about the wide of ribons, not length. There is any reason...?

Here are couple of reasons I can think of:
1) They have gotten wet and shrinked
2) Diffrent manufacturers have made them
And don't worry about your question beign "stupid" just look what kind of questions I have asked here

Hi Guys,

Decorations were normally issued with 30mm or 35mm ribbons.
Court mounts were 25mm and double draped
Neck decorations used a 45mm ribbon but 8mm,10mm and 15mm were used as well.
Ribbon bars generally used 15mm or 25mm ribbons.
The main manufacturers of third reich ribbons were "Karl Loy"of Munich and "CarL KnobLauch of Berlin.

Some of the ribbon bar collectors may be able to provide additional information.
