    EK2 mm '38'

Never having seen one before or any discussion on EK2s with this maker mark I will offer this example to put things right!
Recently bought from the estand at a fair price reflecting the condition it was definately worth a shot IMO. I note there are two listed on the EK stats thread, one of which is this one. I see another member, Greg I think, has listed this maker as an example that he owns.
Lets hear your opinions. There is no doubt that it is an original example of an EK. The bottom right, where the bulk of the rust is situated has been cleaned at some point with what looks like something fairly abrasive removing much of the patina, so, is the maker mark for real, post war..........

It sure looks like "38". What alternative numbers could it be?

Yes, I can't see any other makers numbers it can be or is trying to be.
I've not yet had a chance to try and match the frame with any other makers and the core is a little rough around the dates to be able to make an easy ID.
If any other members have a medal (EK, KVK or anything!) with '38' stamped on it, it would be useful to see....

Here's the mark on a "38" KVK 2 with swords. It is in incuse relief.

                Hello,

I don't have my collection in hand at the moment, but from memory, isn't this a mm138 (with a misstruck mm of course)?

                All the best, F

Comparing a known '138' stamp with yours...

Thank you for the comparison Robert! The mark is deeply struck and I'm sure if it is a mis-stamped '138' there would surely be some trace of the missing '1'.
Did maker '138' use S&L frames?

Not that I am aware of. Here is my marked example...

Thank you Robert, your '138' matches mine exactly, both different from the '38' marked cross I opened the thread with - which has the S&L frame.
