    Fake EK1s

Hi all been plowing through the threads for a while and thought I would poke my head abve the parapet. I know very little about Iron crosses, I have a couple of second classes but also recently picked up some copy/ fake EK1s only paid a few pounds for each so no big deal. I am interested though in finding out about their age and if it is known where they are made so

    1) 1914 looks new screwback vaulted slight flaw in top of cross

    <a href="http://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/welshdoc/?action=view&current=IMGP1321-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/welshdoc/IMGP1321-1.jpg" border="0" alt="EK1 1914 front dome"></a>

    <a href="http://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/welshdoc/?action=view&current=IMGP1322.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/welshdoc/IMGP1322.jpg" border="0" alt="ek1 1914 back"></a>

    2) 1914 has KO on the pin and has been aged

    <a href="http://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/welshdoc/?action=view&current=XXXcrop.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/welshdoc/XXXcrop.jpg" border="0" alt="Query EK 1"></a>

    <a href="http://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/welshdoc/?action=view&current=IMGP1329.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/welshdoc/IMGP1329.jpg" border="0" alt="EK2 1914"></a>

    <a href="http://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/welshdoc/?action=view&current=IMGP1389.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/welshdoc/IMGP1389.jpg" border="0" alt="Ko2"></a>

    3) the real piece de resistance an 1870 flatback marked Deschlersohn and 800 but is clearly copper , I wonder about the age on this one as it seemed "old"

    <a href="http://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/welshdoc/?action=view&current=IMGP1323.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/welshdoc/IMGP1323.jpg" border="0" alt="Ek1 1870 front"></a>

    Hi Gaeth,

can't tell you much about where the crosses come from (although I think most of them are made in Latvia)

The last cross you post has been doing the rounds since about 2 years now, and the disc of the screwback is around for about the same period, at least on '39 crosses.
You often find the disc stamped with "51"or even with the "Reichsadler", SS-markings and even more stupid crap.....
    EVEN on 1914 crosses.......

    I don't collect 1914 ek's so I don't know which version showed up first.

    Best regards,
    Ben

The Deschler and Sohns were replicas produced during the 1970's..

Anybody can spot these a mile away, honestly, look at the quality of them. The metal, detail, that 1870 one is a good laugh, theyre on ebay alot.

          Really??

I don't recall that I saw them before about 2 years ago, must have missed a lot of them...
