    Deschler Hoard Cased KVK1

All attempts to cut back haved failed, with this new pick up being solid proof of that. But how could I resist? if nothing else it's good investment piece, and it really can't be upgraded. This is one of the cased KVK1s with Swords that came from the Deschler hoard. I've gotten all the diffrent packaged medals that were in this hoard, so this almost completes the set. If the term mint can be used, it's here. These unissued examples are unreal in terms of condition.

Here's the rear. Pictures really don't do this cross justice (to add yet another cliche to this thread).

A shot of the case, which is very cherry also.

The top of the case. I think this one really adds to my collection.

They're magnificent, Steve! How or where could you find a better example? I really like the simple cases too. It was hard to break the tight seal on the case to see the badge in full, I know. Very nice collectible, Steve.

Wonderful piece. It's got to be hard to cut back when pieces such as these turn up and just call out to you to empty the wallet. I don't blame you, I would have done the same.

Well, as a collector, how can you pass up an oppurtunity like this? Plus it was an in hand buy, which is always better. A few fellow collectors getting together, talking about and handling the items and making a deal. There's something about that that is more satisfying than an internet buy. I actually did a partial trade for this set, which lessened the blow, and I got a fair deal on an EK2 spange, EK2, and a black wound badge at the same time, so I think I did ok in the end. Plus, I feel that a set like this will only increase in value down the road. I'm not an investment collector, but it helps justify it. Look how the Russian Hoard 26 marked EK1s went up.

That statement is on page 23 of the Collectors Handbook.

Great cross Steve. Makes me want to almost get back into the KVK game ...

Yeah it's next to the chapter entitled "Just One More Deal and Then I'll Cut Back"

To qoute Ian Anderson..." Charlie stole the handle and the train...You know it wont slow down"....
This collecting thing is like a runaway train with the brake handle thrown out the window!
I Just bought a KVK II and a 1939 Mauser K98 today, and turned away a few Floch EKI's thanks to the education I have received here!
Steve! That is one beautiful KVK I, Easy to justify just as you have!
"if nothing else it's good investment piece" And if you already had ALL the other packaged Medals? than you had to buy this one! It only makes sense!!!!

As I was handling this one and debating whether or not to buy it, my friend said his father had an old saying. It was "The time for tarts is when they're passing." That pretty much clinched the deal there. When will I see another in hand to buy?

Just because, I bought two of the damn things because they looked soooo beautifull. Mind you, I don't collect them but the primal appeal was just too much. I imagine the price of these pieces will go down in the future as there are quite of few them around now. But hey, they are drop dead goregous!
