    Oaks and Swords

Not a Godet set of course, but I'd be interested to hear some thoughts on these.

    The reverse I'll post later...

        Marshall,

The swords look cast, possibly the oaks also.

Man, those are beautiful, Bob! I'm barely into the DK's, and these oaks with swords really intrigue me. They are handsome pieces with the RK's attached.

You are correct of course Tony - the set is almost certainly cast but interestingly, they are a match for the L/13 'Meybauers' seen in Gordon Williamson's Iron Cross of 1939 book.

The question is were they cast from an ''original'' set of Maybauers (should they exist) - or is this style also found marked with other makers marks (thereby reducing the credibility of Maybauer ever having made O/L & S's?)

They are 'gap-fillers' only - I didn't pay much for them at all - and of course not 'real'... but I thought they may be of interest to anyone who had opinions on the legend of 'other makers' of the higher grade awards, such as S&L, Deumer, etc..

I don't think we've ever seen a set of L/13 O/L&S's on this forum, although they are occaisionally mentioned, so maybe someone has some observations or information on this particular style?

Oh - and Gorgeous set Bob!! One day.....
