    War Merit Cross

Opinions. Also is this a tombac or a copper/zinc alloy?

My opinion, for what it's worth:

"Please" and "Thanks in advance" go a long way.

    As to the cross:

From this one slightly out of focus picture, it appears possibly okay but impossible to say for sure. As to metal, dunno.

    best

Could you possibly post a photo of the reverse to identify the maker?

        To all,
PLEASE forgive my lack of gracious platitudes and verbal Etiquette. I did not intend to offend anyone. I will remember as a lowly numbered poster I must be subserviant.

Attached is a photo of the reverse. I am deeply sorry for the quality of the pitcures, but this is what the seller has sent. I am not skilled enough in KVKs to discern other than the completely zinc versions that have been attacked by "Zincus Pestis"

And, please forgive me for not asking for a close up photo of the maker mark in my initial request for the reverse photo.

Robert, thanks for replying. This is as close as I can get. I do not have the piece in hand, this is what the seller has sent me. It's not rare and the price is in the median range. I can wait for another if this one is questionable.

              Hello there,

              What is the reverse marked?

From the pics shown so far I would be careful. The block style hinge assembly and thick catch remind me of a Floch.

Better pics of the pin would be of help for sure.

                Thanks,
                Mike

                  I'll bet it's marked L11.

This one is a Floch, notice the dimple between the upper arm and the right sword. No good, so don't waste your money.

                      Ty

                      Thanks folks!

You all have much better eyes than I do. Suggestion will be heeded. Hopefully I can find a good one in Ft Worth this weekend

                        Hi Brien,
No offense or snobbery intended, rest assured you're not alone in the terse opening statement.

I just wanted to post a reminder, and hopefully others who read the thread will be reminded also.

                        Absolutely nothing personal against you.

                        all the best
