Thank you, Andrew. The rarity of this case cannot be overstated. I have never had the opportunity to own one and it is one of those rare treasures that is always a pleasure to see. Sadly, one sees them so rarely.

In memory of my Uncle,
Schtz.Grenadier KARL HOFBAUER,
2 Kompanie, Inf-Bat, 550.
Killed in action, Krasnoje, Minsk, 7. Nov. 1942.
Very nice, I knew where a set was the entire time I lived in Germany and the Widow would not part with it. I tried for three years and after she died it ended up going to a relative who she thought would appreciate it. He sold it to a coin dealer the next day for 300 US with the award document and letters etc. or something like that. Great award and an interesting/important aspect of WH history rarely talked about.
I can totally understand why you kept that one Jacques. Attributable pieces are very special. BTW, great photo.
Regards,
AB.
I got the whole (I guess) group with medals, related documents, newspapers, photos. As he died in Spain, the group is only related to Spain commitment.
