Hi Robert. I have the word template. This was a project started about4 years ago. Unfortunately it started off like your good intentions .. only to die a death due to indifference of populating the completed projects.

I can email you the template, but, I'm not sure anything will come of it this time either

ive been reading this forum for a while and on the topic of identifying EKs accurately, one has to recall through experience, through personal memory, book references, a trip to the museum or commonly by posting on this forum.

I had an idea (which may not be new), which is to come up with a datebase... that would list all the manufacturers (makers) or EK2s (for a start just EK2s)... i know this has been done... there's a full list compiled and pinned.

the next step is visual identification if a mark is not clear. that is where the software comes in...

we could have a list of images for all the EKs.... that i will need contributions of closeup images, details such as weight, height & width, thickness.... etc.

so, assuming you had an EK....

if the makers number is present - Volia, you can find it quickly.
if not, perhaps you might know its dimensions and weight... key it in...the the software should shortlist to you some possible EKs...

or perhaps you do not have the equipment to measure...so you could see visually some distinct features... perhaps such as an unusual screw-back feature... pop...the software shortlists...perhaps this or that...

how about your thoughts anyone?
my main problem would be to gather all the info and to compile it.
but i could work out the software....
