    my 2 week start

tThis is the start of my collection.ive veered away from helmets as there just too expensive now and i can't justify spending mega bucks on them anymore.Ive turned my attention to iron crosses and i have to say i get just as much enjoyment out of collecting these as i did helmets.I Started collecting them 2 weeks ago and im not sure when it will end.I expect you guys will see a bit more of me on this part of the forum and i will enjoy learning and sharing knowlege with you.

    6 in 2 weeks...

Welcome to the EK section. You have a fine start there. Averaging 3 a week, as you are, will get you to 156 by this time next year. Think not? Well I recall when I started I said I would get a couple nice examples and then stop. Darrell, Robert and others very politely commented (while chuckling I suspect) and sure enough there was no end to it. I hope they are as much fun for you to collect and show as they have been for me.

    Kind Regards,
    Stu

Very nice start in just two weeks! My collecting has been diversified over the years, but I suppose the EKII's will always be my primary focus. One cross leads to another, and another, until...

I'm an obnozious collector. Well, Joe, if you would post your collection we would all feel very humbled. The relatively small collection of EKII's I own have been so very interesting to study. The different makers, the variants, etc. I'm learning that it's not the abundance of crosses you own that brings satisfaction, but rather the knowledge you gain from insights into each one of them. Following the evolution of each, their construction techniques, etc. is really rewarding to me. There's nothing like them.

Yeah .... nice sets guys ... but you never told him the REAL bad news ... what comes after EK2's?

Yep .... EK1's And they are 3 times as expensive ...

The only consulation ... there are not nearly as many makers ....

Good start and welcome to the club prussian

Yeah, jon, a recession. But If I sold my collection, I'd be in a depression.

Joe, I'd gladly trade you many of my nicest EK's for that magnificent silver SC by CEJ. Just take your pick.

Darrell, I've found that the EKI's are more addictive than the II's for certain. I can't remember when I bought my last EKII, maybe at the SOS. And, many EKI's have come in the mail since then. My hunt for more EKII's I don't have will start again at the MAX this year.

Very nice collections, all of you. Shows you can enjoy the Hobby in at many levels. Big or small it is just a great feeling to get that missing item.

Robert, what are the lables on yours for?

                            Hi Dennis,

The labels have numbers for easy reference, that's all. The number of the maker (65, 134, 4, 1, etc.). When someone needs a photo I can grab it quickly.

I would guess that Robert's tags are pretty much the same as the ones I use. Paper tags that ID the medal. Just a guess.....[EDIT:] Robert, as usual, beat me to the answer.....

                              Cheers,
                              Bob
