I came across some discussion and amazing pictures last night of a group of medals found called the Deschler Horde. Can anyone point me to a source or thread that tells more about this find? When and where did these medals surface, and are they still selling these pieces?

Dear Shannon,
As I recall (vaguely I might add) the Deschler horde was found in an old non used area of the factory by some workers when they were doing some renovations to the old Deschler building. If you do a search on the forum I think you will find the answer.
The horde seemed to be split up by some of the bigger german dealers and some of the pieces are still available (check Helmut Weitze for alot of the awards, you will also see onsies and twosies pop up on other dealer sites). In the horde were cased WMCs in the original shipping cartons packaged in lots for shipment, WMC 2nd classes in packets with tissue and I believe Russian front medals in packets and tissues. there were also rumours that the horde contined mint cased German crosses but this has yet to be substantiated and I have heard from some people "in the know" that this was not the case.

I can't expound of when the horde was found, or even where. Whether it was part of the recent Stuttgart horde I am not sure. The awards from the Deschler horde have been sold through various dealer sites, the main source being Helmet Weitze. I've seen many items from this horde at the last SOS also. The cased and packeted KVK's, both 1st and 2nd class, can still be found on Weitze's site. He recently had many of the packeted EKII's.

Dear Robert,
I PMed you.
A lovely cross indeed and a great piece for your collection (or your sons!). Normally packeted crosses are tarnished but these Deschler pieces are exceptional!
Hope all is well with you and that your son is doing well.
