    Opinions please on two EKII

    Hello,

I like your opinion on these two EKII's. I bought from e-stand. The last two images are of the right EKII. I'm worried because it appears that the EK is solid.

Thanks a lot for all help on this.

    Cheers,
    Fernanda

    Hello Fernanda,
What makes you think it is solid? Is it because you can't see any join between the frames? Have you tried slipping a piece of paper between the frame and the core?

      Hello Adrian,

Thanks for the response. I mean "solid" because the EK are not in three parts. The second EK on image is not in three parts. There is no join between the frames and also between the frame and core.

The first EK are in three parts and more detailed that the second

I'll provide more and better pictures.

      Cheers,
      Fernanda

Just an observation, The 3 in 1813 sits rather high in the "One Piece" cross?

did you slip paper between the core and frame? I do not think that is a one piece cross and it would be impossible to shove a core into a one piece frame.

            EK2s

            Hello Fernanda,

I have like 20 ek2s and 18 out of 20 have "grinded/sandpapered" looking edges, even makermarked Gustav Brehmer and Klein & Quenzer have those.

Here is example,my makermarked 13 Gustav Brehmer EK2(scanned with 2400dpi resolution),as you can see there is no visible 2 parts because of the "sandpapered" edge :

And here is Wiedmann with no visible edges of 2 part construction:

              Fernanda,

I obviously don't have these in hand, but from the PICS, I like what I see. I have seen WWI period one-piece crosses, but like Adrian stated, try sliding a small piece of paper under the frame and see how far it goes.

If you have a small magnet, you might try testing the core to see if it's iron or not.

              Best,
              Tim

I see this too and perhaps the "8" also.
