    Faked EK cases

Anyone have any info on fake EK I cases. I just came back form a site that I visit every week and there were 3 or 4 cased EKs, all with the round push button and as far as I could tell no indentation or stain on the inside top of the case. Other words the cases look to new. Anyone have any thoughts or advice they can share?
    Thanks

Most of the Third Reich medal and badge cases have been copied for years. IC 1st cases have been available, as copies, for years. I know Reddick sells them and Sean Weske sells them. There are casemakers in England who make near perfect cases for the rarest awards. They are all on the internet.

When I was at Rothenburg o.der.T in Bavaria a militaria shop with all over priced stuff mainly meant for Japanese buyers. Offered bulk EK1 cases at 30DM each they were perfect except they smelled new, they were made in Austria.
Eventually,I tracked down the source of these cases to Vienna,he had all sorts of cases especially Luftwaffe ones at prices from about $20 upwards.Another dealer who has every imaginable fake case is Rolf Grimm near Stuttgart his stuff is very good and reasonably priced.
I have seen recently real badges being sold in fake cases at shows and even from so called "reputable" dealers!moremad

Was the shop in Rothenburg halfway between the main platz and the city walls?
          If so, hhhhrrrrmmmmpppphhhh!

The owner's wife was kinda nice, though. Only because she wanted to do me!
I had a good time but didn't get any militaria.

            Eric,
What kind of good time did you have? You know us collectors are into details.
About the cases, I would say what I saw was real EKs in fake cases. What I really was looking for were details on what other collectors look for in a orignal case. Me, the smell, is it stained, is there an impression. What else?

Tough to do, but you might require a magnet, a blacklight, and a packet of prophylactics to be handy at all times....
