    Unmarked Juncker EKII or W&L?

    Hello!

I recently bought what IMO is an unmarked Juncker EKII from the e-stand. It has previously been discussed here, where you will also find some close-ups of the cross-hatching: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ght=Juncker+ek

Last Saturday, while impatiently waiting for the cross to arrive in the mail, I read threads about these types of crosses until I had Juncker coming out of my ears (the three frame flaws, the out of alignment humps, the tail balls etc. etc.)

Here are just some threads for hours of good reading on different theories on these types of crosses and whether the frames and different cores are Juncker or W&L or both:
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ght=Juncker+ek
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...l+plated+frame
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ght=Juncker+ek

Anyways, what most posters seem to agree on is that a it's a Junker cross (and thus not an W&L, although the frame might be) if the core has the flatter date, meaning that the numbers in 1939 are of equal height, especially the 1 being as tall as the nine, and the 3 being equal size of the rest of the numbers.

My new cross has this kind of number design. It's non-magnetic, crosshatched and the core is slightly convex.

I'm asking for a second opinion. What do you guys think? All comments are greatly appreciated!

Sorry as always for the crappy pictures! One day I will invest in a digital camera instead of more crosses..

        Nice Juncker!

I don't know anything about non magnetic W&L EK II's, too.

          Nice Juncker cross Friedrich,

I have the same cross in non-magnetic zinc core. The paint typically doesn't like to adhere to zinc well (moisture in core, etc.), so yours is the exception, assuming yours is zinc as well, being non-magnetic. Convex is good, a good sign of a Juncker core I have learned. BTW, I've gone back and updated my thinking on the cross-hatched crosses. You might want to read. It was brought to my attention that these cross-hatched Juncker-type frames and the cross-hatched W&L's were possibly made by the same engraver, thus the same number of beads per inch on the 12:00 arm, and the 'scrunched' bead at 2:00 from the swas. Theoretically it makes good sense.

          Congratulations on a nice Juncker,

          Robert

              Hello Friedrich,

I know it will make you crazy reading all the threads and different opinions.

In The Netherlands there is someone that thinks you have most likely a Juncker ek2
I know others, for example someone in Canada you mention...Hello Douglas ...thinks different about these ek2's.
But IMO you have a Juncker core in with the W&L frames.
And uptil now I really believe that this ek2 is made by Juncker.

Robert, you also a very nice cross with IMO the typical Juncker core!

                Thanks Luud!

What I'm going to do when I know what's left over after a certain car repair.... is to buy some different core and frame W&L:s. And perhaps try to get my hands on the other frame Juncker. There's also an unmarked Schickle I want though..

Problem is you always want all the ones you don't have at once..
