kvk1 a bit on the dull side

i currently have a cased kvk1 w/swords makers mark 4 which has gone dull due to the zinc.my cased kvk1 wo/swds has not lost its shine.is there anything you can do to bring back the shine or is that a big no no and leave things as they are???

I have a KVK1 also marked 4 and it had lost its shine so I bought a spray can of silver paint and painted it!

Just kidding or I would've been dead right guys???
I don't think there is anything you can do. But I may be wrong

Typical characteristic of zink is its ability to absorb top finishes.
Unfortunately once the finish has dissapeared ,it is gone forever.

Look on the brightside ,at least this is a typical characteristic of genuine pieces.

Here is my Steinhauer & Lück KvK with Swords. The shine is completely gone expect for the pin. I’m afraid that when the shine it’s gone it’s gone forever.

Yes, this phenomenon happens frequently with KVK 1s.
