If I'm not mistaken, this was for sale on the e-stand, last year. I had written the seller about it, and I believe he indicated that he had no way of verifying that the photo and the EK belonged together. He just thought it was a nice presentation.....

      Cheers,
      Bob.

Being so new to the EK addiction, I am what would be considered an FNG as far as my opinion is concerned... and am learning all the time from you collectors here.
I still bring to the table that this may be a maker 70 EK2? See the maker mark on Ron's cross and compare to the cross here...
        http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/iron...rers/70/70.htm
        very simmular eh?
Adrian has posted a nice shot of His 76 above, see the circle portion of the 6 and how low it is in relation to the 7? much lower than Rob's?
Also compare the inner corner beading in Rob's cross to the example in the link to the data base? pretty close I think.
The Maker Mark in the data base cross has an extension in the 11 oclock portion of the 0 which could be like a 6?
I wonder if any members could look at these points I mention?
As I say I am learning every hour, And just wonder if I am looking at the wrong areas of the crosses to try to identify them?
Thanks for any consideration of my post. It takes a long time for a person to be considered Experten on any subject, And I am really enjoying this EK collecting sickness and all the Mystries involved.

Looking at all three EKs I wouldn't mind betting they are all from Ernst L. Muller. I'm sure George's cross in the database is in fact a '76' but missing the top part of the '6'. I can see many similarities in all of them, especially the inner corners near the swastika. I hope some other members can give their thoughts?

Here is a comparison of all three EKs (unfortunately my montage skills are not quite up to the standard of Roberts ).
From left to right: Ron's, mine and George's from the database. I have arrowed the most obvious areas of similarity in the beading on the inner corners. I used the reverses as an example due to the fact that these were the clearest images from all three crosses.
The cross in my collection is clearly marked '76' so I would respectfully suggest, looking at the similarities, that the cross on the database could be a '76' also and not a '70'?
I hope some further opinions will be forthcoming.....
If I am wrong I will humbly hold my hand up and apologize.

                  Adrian,

You've nailed this down. Nice montage to illustrate too. I have (3) marked 76's which all have identical features. The '3' in the 1813 date is another very good feature when comparing. The maker mark when not squarely struck can look like a 70, throwing many off.

                  Nice work,
                  Robert

Thank you Robert, I'll drop George a message to see if the image on the EK2 home page can be changed.
