I'd say it's an early S&L cross with the silver mark added post war.
Anyway, if there were to make a cross using silver they surely wouldn't use sterling silver, would they?

I would agree with you Stephen, but it is from private and on closer examination it looks well stamped in there and I see no reason anyone but a dealer would stamp this on a pin, on another note I thought it was a Meybauer pin. Definitely a strange piece. You only way I think you can slove your problem is to get a jeweler or someone to test it for silver content.
Also here's a thread showing as early S&L. I would it's exactly the same as yours.
